To sign in using your email address:

Step 1: Enter your email address.

Step 2: An OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number linked with your email address.

Step 3: You’ve just got to enter it and click on Submit.

To sign in from your social account

One click is all it takes!

Tap on Facebook or Google account and click Allow.

To sign in from your TV Sets:

Binge your favourite content on the big screen too! That too without the hassle of typing through clunky TV remotes. Here’s how:-

Step 1: You can activate LIV on your TV using your mobile phone or web app.

Step 2: With your TV remote, click on Sign in / Register.

Step 3: You will get a 4-digit code.

Step 4: Next, click on Activate on your mobile app / web.

Step 5: You’re almost there! Now all you have to do is, sign in with your credentials and type the 4-digit code that was displayed on the TV.

Step 6: Grab the popcorn! You are now signed in to over 30000 hours of binge-worthy content on your TV!

We’re extremely sorry buddy. Your LIV account will not work outside your country. It is currently available only in the country you register from.

For Android/Samsung TV/Amazon Firestick:

  • Download the app from store/update the app to the latest version
  • Login to Sony LIV app on your phone (with your registered email ID or Phone number)
  • Go to menu on your mobile app and select “More”
  • On this screen, click on “Activate TV”
  • Enter the shown code on your TV in your mobile app and click on “Submit”
  • Grab the popcorn! You’re now signed in to over 30000 hours of bingeworthy content on your TV!

For Chromecast:

  • Connect your mobile device and TV screen with the same WiFi network
  • Select the content you want to watch on your mobile app
  • On the video player, click on the Chromecast icon
  • Select the device you want to cast on
  • Grab the popcorn! You can now watch over 30000 hours of bingeworthy content on your TV!

Samsung has limited support for TV models released in 2017 or earlier. This means that users on these TVs may no longer receive SonyLIV’s latest app improvements via regular updates. If the SonyLIV app is available on your Samsung TV models released in 2017 or earlier , you can continue using it with limited app-feature experience.

Section III - Video Playback


Step 1: First, let’s make sure you are connected to the internet. If not, please check your internet connection.

Step 2: If the app shows an error, then send it to us. We will get back to you asap!

Sony LIV Supports streaming in 4K Ultra HD in many devices that support 4K Ultra HD Streaming.

To watch Sony LIV in 4K Ultra HD, you need:
  • A device which is capable to support video play in 4K Ultra HD.
  • An active LIV Premium 1 Month or LIV Premium 12 Months subscription. Please note, 4K Ultra HD streaming is not available on the Mobile only pack.
  • A steady internet connection with speed high enough to support streaming in 4K Ultra HD
  • Streaming quality set to Auto or 2160p.
  • If you are not sure whether your device support streaming in 4K Ultra HD, please contact your device manufacturer.

You can watch Sony LIV content in 4K Ultra HD on the following devices:

  • Select Android phones and Tabs
  • Select models of iPhone, iPad and Apple TV
  • Smart TVs and Android TVs which have display that support streaming videos in 4K Ultra HD
  • An 4K Ultra HD supported Amazon Fire TV stick connected to a 4K Ultra HD supported display

Sony LIV supports following HDR streaming formats, Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HDR10+.

To watch Sony LIV content in these formats, you need:

  • A device which is capable to support video play in Dolby Vision or HDR10 or HDR10+.
  • An active LIV Premium 1 Month or LIV Premium 12 Months subscription. Please note, 4K Ultra HD streaming is not available on the Mobile only pack.
  • A steady internet connection with speed high enough to support streaming in Dolby Vision or HDR10 or HDR10+.
  • If you are not sure whether your device support streaming in Dolby Vision or HDR10 or HDR10+, please contact your device manufacturer.

You can watch Sony LIV in Dolby Vision or HDR10 or HDR10+ on the following devices:

To watch Sony LIV content in Dolby Atmos, you need:

  • A device that can play Dolby Atmos
  • A Dolby Atmos-capable audio system
  • An active LIV Premium 1 Month or LIV Premium 12 Months subscription. Please note, 4K Ultra HD streaming is not available on the Mobile only pack.
  • If you are not sure whether your device support streaming in Dolby Atmos, please contact your device manufacturer

Section IV - Download Offline


No internet connection? No worries. Premium subscribers can download their favourite shows on mobile / tablet app and watch them when they are offline.

• Login to LIV app with your registered phone/number email or social account

• Ensure you’re on the latest app version

• Select the episode/movie you wish to download

• Check if the episode is available for download (a downward facing arrow on the content)

• Click on the down arrow and select the quality option and click on Start download to start downloading the episode/movie

• Enjoy your downloaded content anytime anywhere!

• Login to LIV app with your registered phone/number email or social account

• Go to menu on your mobile app and select “More”

• On this screen, click on “Downloads”

• Select anything from your downloaded episodes/movies and start watching

Downloaded content will be available on your device for a limited time period which can vary for each content.
This is visible in the My Downloads section for each downloaded content. Beyond the allowed downloaded time period, the content can be redownloaded to watch.

Section V - Notifications


Android

  • From the device’s home screen, open the “Settings” app
  • Tap “Apps”, “Applications”, or “Applications Manager” (Terms and steps vary by device).
  • You will see a list of the apps downloaded onto your device. Scroll through the list and tap on the Sony LIV app.
  • To enable push notifications, click on Notifications and tap on “Allow notifications” from this screen.
  • To disable push notifications, follow the same steps and disable “Allow notifications” from this screen.

iPhone/iPad

  • From your device’s home screen, tap the “Settings” icon.
  • From the settings screen select “Notifications”.
  • From here, find the Sony LIV app from all the Apps installed on your device.
  • Tap “Allow Notifications” and then choose your options for how you wish to receive push notifications.
  • To disable the notification, follow the same steps and disable the “Allow Notifications” option

Google Chrome

  • Open Chrome and select the “Settings” under the 3-point menu
  • In Settings click on “Site Settings” within the “Privacy and Security”
  • Select the “Notifications” and select the option “Sites can ask to send notifications”
  • To disable the notification, follow the same steps and select the option “Don't allow sites to send notifications” and remove the website URL from the allowed websites list (if already allowed)

Safari

  • Open Safari and click “Preferences” (under the Safari menu bar)
  • Click on the “Notifications” tab
  • Enable the “Allow websites to ask for permission to send push notifications”
  • To disable the notification, uncheck the “Allow websites to ask for permission to send push notifications” and remove the website URL from the allowed websites list (if already allowed)

Section VI - My List


You can create a collection of all your favourite shows and movies under the 'My List' option in your app.

'My List' will help you keep track of your favourite content easily.

We will pick up your interests, on the basis of which, you will be recommended relevant content!

Step 2: See a '+' sign next to the content you're watching? Just click on it.And done!

Added something by mistake?

Go to the specific content's video and tap on the 'My List' icon to remove it from there.

Alternatively, you could also visit the 'My List' section and edit your collection.

Section VII – Chromecast Support


  • We support standalone Chromecast devices from Generation 2 to Generation 3 and all TVs having in-built Chromecast device. In case you are using Chromecast Generation 1 device, please note that this device is no longer supported by Google and you might experience playback issues
  • We don’t support any kind of mirroring through phone / use Screencast / MiraCast / MyCast/ Anycast or Airplay

This could be due to connection issue with the chrome cast device and is preventing your phone/desktop from finding your chrome cast. Follow the below steps to fix this issue –

Android phone or tablets

  • Unplug your chrome cast device from power source for 15s and plug it back for chrome cast to reboot. Try casting again once rebooted.
  • Check if your chrome cast is on same wifi network as your android device. Kindly ensure they are on same wifi network and try casting again
  • For android phone/tablet, turn on network by clicking on Settings> Google>Device & Sharing > Cast Options>. Turn on use network information and try casting again.

iPhone or iPad

  • Unplug your chrome cast device from power source for 15s and plug it back for chrome cast to reboot. Try casting again once rebooted.
  • Check if your chrome cast is on same wifi network as your iphone/ipad device. Kindly ensure they are on same wifi network and try casting again.

This means that the information on the device that you are trying to cast needs to be refreshed. To fix this issue, follow the below steps and retry to cast -

Android phone or tablets

  • Ensure that your android device and Chromecast are connected to same Wifi
  • Restart your android phone or tablet
  • Update Google Home and Google Play services
  • Unplug your chromecast device from power source for 15s and plug it back to allow chromecast to reboot
  • Sign out of Sony LIV

iPhone or iPad

  • Ensure that your iphone/ipad and Chromecast are connected to same Wifi
  • Unplug your chromecast device from power source for 15s and plug it back to allow chromecast to reboot

Windows or Mac computer

If you use chrome, you can turn off unnecessary add ons by following the below steps -

  • In the address bar, enter chrome://extensions
  • Turn off any extensions that are turned on

Please try the following options –

Android phone or tablets

  • Delete special characters from your chromecast device name such as emoji’s or apostrophes as Sony LIV app cannot recognize special characters
  • Ensure that your device and Chromecast are connected to same Wifi
  • Update to recent version of Chrome
  • In case if your router, modem or getaway is set to multicast routing, kindly refer to your router, modem, or getaway owner’s manual or manufacturer for setup instructions
  • Make sure you are having latest Sony LIV app version installed on your device -

    a. Android minimum version support: 4.4 or above

    b. iOS minimum version support: 11.0 or above

To change subtitle or audio language of the casting, go to Subtitle & Audio settings on the player of your device and choose your preferred settings. On submitting, the casting will start playing with the selected subtitle/audio language.

To change volume of casting, press your phone or tablet’s volume buttons.

Select the next content you wish to watch and press play. The earlier content will stop casting and the current content that is playing will be casted instead.

To be able to watch Live sports content, you will need to subscribe to the LIV Premium pack or Mobile Only pack.

If your payment mode supports auto-renewal, then your subscription will renew automatically, without any interruption, at the end of your subscription cycle.

If your payment mode doesn’t support auto renewal, then you can renew your subscription by going to ‘My Purchases’.

Don’t you worry. You can subscribe again from ‘My Purchases’ or from the Premium content of your choice.

You could also click on the Subscription cards on the homepage.

If your payment is successful and you have obtained an SMS confirmation message, your subscription is activated. If it is not, kindly log out of your account and log in again to continue.

The cancellation will depend on the mode of payment.

Subscriptions made using Credit Card, Debit Card, In-app billing, Wallets and UPI can be cancelled from ‘My Purchases’.

Payment made by Credit Card or Paytm:

Go to ‘My Purchases’ Section on Sony LIV and click ‘Cancel’ to unsubscribe.

Payment made by Google Playstore:

  • Go to your Play Store Account.
  • Select Subscriptions.
  • Click on Unsubscribe.

Payment made by Apple iTunes store:

  • Go to the Settings icon on your iOS device.
  • Select the option "iTunes & App Store".
  • Click on “Apple ID” and then select “View Apple ID”.
  • Now, login with your credentials.
  • Click on “Subscriptions” and select the pack you wish to unsubscribe.

Payment made by Amazon Fire Stick / Amazon Store:

  • To cancel a subscription, you purchased using Subscribe with Amazon:
  • Go to Amazon.com
  • Go to Your Memberships and Subscriptions.
  • Select Manage Subscription next to the subscription you would like to cancel.
  • Click the link under Advance Controls to be directed to the main subscription page. From this page, you can end your subscription.

If you have made a purchase using any other mode of payment, you will be charged only once and your subscription will expire automatically once your pack expires.

Sorry! We do not provide refunds or credits for any partial-month membership periods or unwatched content.

However, you can access the content till the end of the subscription period!

Sony LIV Premium Membership is supported on all devices, however Mobile Only pack can only be consumed on Mobile devices.

You can upgrade from your current pack to higher pack from your My Accounts section or from Upgrade options available on homepage or content detail page. Currently following upgrade options are available to users -

No, you cannot purchase multiple subscriptions at a time!

Users who have subscribed to the premium membership of Sony LIV through any of the subscriptions plans i.e. mobile only or LIV premium (monthly, half-yearly and annual plans) will not receive advertisements with the exception of certain categories of content such as “Sports, LIV Exclusives and Reality Shows (Live and Recorded) & Interactivity”. Further, the said information is explicitly made available to users prior to availing our subscription plans.

We understand your concern, however, since subscription is taken via partners, the partner is in charge of subscription activation and cancellation. We request you contact their respective customer support teams for more assistance. Given below are the customer support details of various partners:

Please note, with effect from August 30, 2023, live TV channels will no longer be available on Sony LIV. However, the individual programs and select movies which are broadcast on linear channels shall continue to be made available either for free or as per your subscribed pack. Apart from this change, there is no impact on any other offerings on Sony LIV. Simply click on the channel icon of your preferred channel and you will be able to see the list of shows you can watch from the said channel.

By including a modest ad frequency in our streaming library, SonyLIV is able to offer a wide variety of content while providing TV shows , movies, award-winning Sony LIV Originals, Live sports, Sports highlights and more — all at a valuable and competitive price.

If you are a free user, you may see advertisements on all the content available to you on the platform. Ads are typically shown at the beginning of the stream and throughout the video, while keeping in mind your viewing experience. If you subscribe to one of our ad-supported plans, you will see ads during shows and movies in our content library. If you are a premium user, you can expect to see advertisements on Sports, LIV Exclusives and Reality Shows (Live and Recorded) & Interactivity

You can’t fast forward through ad breaks on Sony LIV, but if you subscribe to the LIV Premium pack, you can watch most of our shows* and movies in the Sony LIV content library, ad-free.

There are a number of factors that affect the ads that you are seeing. What you're watching, where you're located, your demographics and what you've streamed previously can all help us personalize your ads so they're relevant to you.

For Kids Profile:

We do not collect any personal information like contact details, address etc. from your kids profile. If you do not wish to personalize your ads, you can disable it by clicking here. Please note that this will not reduce the number of ads shown to you.

If you are a premium user, you can expect to see advertisements on Sports, LIV Exclusives and Reality Shows (Live and Recorded) & Interactivity

If the articles above don’t address or resolve your issue, please contact us for help.

Auto-renewal of your subscription may fail due to insufficient balance in your account, or issues with your existing mandate for auto-renewals. Another reason could be due to increase in subscription price . No worries, you can renew by clicking on the subscribe option, selecting the plan of your choice, and completing the payment.

You may not see an option to cancel your subscription in my accounts since your renewal mandate isn’t active. This may happen if your payment instrument that you used during subscription purchased didn’t support recurring or was charged as one-time payment or your recurring mandate was cancelled due to price change.
To make sure your services aren’t impacted post due date, you can renew early by making advance payment here.

Section IX - Restore


If you upgraded or deleted the application, or if you have download problems after purchase, do not worry. Your purchases are guaranteed. This functionality "restores" i.e. re-instate the active subscription on your device.

There are multiple scenario where restore is helpful

  • In case user bought a subscription from say iPhone but the subscription is not visible on Apple TV, clicking on Restore button from My Account or My Purchase will enable subscription on the Apple TV.
  • You have received subscription purchase confirmation from iTunes/Apple Store, but the subscription is still not active? Click on the Restore button from My Account or My Purchase and your subscription will be restored.
  • You have deleted and reinstalled the app or restores the device from a backup? Simply click on Restore button from My account or My purchase and your subscription will be enabled.

User can restore functionality from either My Account in main menu or from My Purchases under My account.

Please make sure that you are logged and using the same Apple ID to restore which you used to purchase the subscription. If the Apple ID does not match with the ID you used to purchase subscription, the restore will fail.

Restore functionality is available and supports all Apple devices such iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.

Section X - Free Trials


Step 1: Select a pack for which you want to subscribe for free trial if free trial is available for the pack

Step 2: Validate your payment by entering your payment details and completing the transaction. A nominal amount of Rs.1 would be deducted from your payment mode.

Step 3: Enjoy the trial pack till the validity period ends. Your full pack will be charged on the day the trial period ends. You may choose to cancel the trial anytime within the trial period if you feel the subscription pack isn’t for you.

Step 4: You can also upgrade to other subscription packs during your trial period by paying the full amount of the new pack. Free trial period will not be available for the upgraded pack.

You may not be able to see any option for free trial due to the following reasons

1. You have/had an active subscription

2. You may have already availed a free trial before on your account or device

3. Free trial is not offered currently in your country

Free trial cannot be clubbed with any coupon offers. To redeem the coupon, select the option to buy the subscription pack without free trial. You will be able to redeem the coupon and make the payment any of the payment options available.

Section XI - WWE Network pack


WWE content will be available to watch on Sony LIV until March 31st. After that, it will not be available on Sony LIV

You can continue using your WWE subscription on Sony LIV to watch WWE content until March 31st. After that content will no longer be available, and any amount corresponding to the unused period beyond March 31 will be refunded to you

The refunds will be processed to the original payment method used for purchasing the subscription

No, you do not need to cancel. The refund will be processed corresponding to the unused period beyond March 31

Section XII - Account Information


To change your phone number,

• Please write to livsupport@sonyliv.com with your request and reason for change so that we can assist you further

To change your email ID,

In order to keep your account and personal details safe and secure, we do not allow any changes to your registered email address.  

However, we do consider such requests in the following circumstances:

• If you wish to move your Sony LIV account from a corporate email address to a personal email address

• If you’re an Apple user who at the time of taking your subscription chose to encrypt your email address and wish to change it now with your correct Email ID.

You are requested to write to us at livsupport@sonyliv.com with the following details from your currently registered email address: 

• Current corporate email address (if applicable)

• New email address 

• Reason for change

• On this screen, click on “My Account”

Section XIII - Amazon Bundle - FAQ's


Amazon Fire TV Stick is a device which will have Sony LIV subscription bundled with it.

User will be entitled to a LIV Premium Annual Plan.

Yes

  • There will be one-time activation that the user will have to do to enable their Sony LIV subscription
  • When the user launches Sony LIV application for the first time with the Fire TV Plus stick, there will be a pop-up to the user to activate the offer
  • The user will have to sign-in using their Amazon account (Login with Amazon)
  • Once signed-up, the user will click on ‘Activate Offer’ and the offer will be activated

No, user will only get access to Sony LIV subscription from the Amazon account used to activate the offer

Yes

  • Customer registration on bundled device will happen thru Login with Amazon (LWA). At the time of each firestick launch we will have to check whether the device is a bundled device.
  • LWA will be primary mode of sign/up in for bundled device for one year, after which Sony's regular sign up/login screen will come on the device along with LWA (secondary)

• Content Browsing, playback and purchase of any subscription services are not supported over VPN, Proxy or a routing service/software.

• Turn off VPN, Proxies or any other software that might route your internet connection from outside of your current region to access Sony LIV or its contents.
